I Fear My Friend

My enemy is my enemy

My friend is my friend

One may speak negatively about me

While the other almost my kin

One follows closely behind me

While one may look from afar

One holds my hand tightly

While one leaves me with emotional scars

For I am afraid of my enemy

Because I know the harm my enemy can bring

But at least I know to cross the street

I know that their like for me they won’t pretend

But my friend is usually by my side

Knows everything about me

Was there when I shed tears

Was always there for me

My weakness they hold in their hands

My trust for them runs deep

That’s why I fear my friend

More than I will ever fear my enemy

For my friend possesses everything needed

To utterly destroy me

They can pretend at any moment

Yet also try to hurt me

A person who I care about dearly

Someone who I would consider my next of kin

Enemies can sometimes be hard to identify

Because they may call themselves your friend
