Ten Thousand Days

How many days have you watched the sun rise?

Has it been ten thousand days?

For when ten thousand days have passed

We truly begin to count our days

The youth we thought we once had forever

Is fleeting like the seasons pass

We watch those who wilt around us

And we finally know that death is real

The rocks of family structures begin to move slower

Their hair lost the color before

Then suddenly we lose one

And then another comes again

The time we thought we had

Becomes the time we wished we cherished

Some stay healthy while others get sick

Life truly isn’t fair

How many days have you watched the sun rise?

Do you appreciate the sun?

For we rarely appreciate great moments in life

Until those moments are gone
