The Race

Falling while conquering the hurdles of life

Life can seem so hard

 

Thinking of ways to get ahead

But your pride is already scared

 

The easy way up seems so easy

But it requires deceit

 

You are debating on what you need to do

To get back on your feet

 

Right is right and this is true

But what’s right seems so hard

 

So instead you attempt to get up

By using your deceit card

 

“Let’s help each other dear friend”

“I just need help from this fall”

 

And your new found friend reaches out their hand

To the sound of your desperate call

 

You rise to your feet

But watch as your new friend fall

 

And instead of offering help as they did you

You continue to watch him crawl

 

You race ahead filled with happiness

You believe the race is won

 

But sadly you are still in the back

Because when it comes to integrity

You have none

 

Responsible for your actions

Being open, honest, and true

 

Speaking up when others are treated poorly

And don’t let the ones treating others like this be you

 

Respecting your surroundings

Respecting everyone including yourself

Always doing the right thing

Even if others don’t want to help
