Heartache made me bitter
Lies made me cold
Disappointment created mountains
At the top I sat alone
Sadness turns into depression
Happiness seems so far away
But then something happens
And brings a smile to my face
My sad times never overcame happy times
But the pain they left were deep
But there was something marvelous
I learned in that recovery
I can feel so much happiness
I can feel so much pain
I can see tears fall from your eyes
And you can do the same
Each moment that made me bitter
Also made me feel alive
For the times I realized I wasn’t invincible
Were the times I sat down and cried
Pain makes me stronger
Situations help me grow
Everything that doesn’t kill me
Makes me more stronger than you’ll ever know

That I have survived with extraordinary skill
I rose up after each disappoint
And most importantly I learned to live
